‘WILL I LOOK PHAT?’ RUSSELL SIMMONS’ PHAT FARM LAUNCHES LINGERIE

Phat sexy lingerie supplier Farm is busting out of its seams and launching a sexy lingerie line.

 

While the eight-year-old urban-inspired sportswear Wholesale Sexy Underwear brand launched by Hip-Hop king Russell Simmons has already released its women’s line – Baby Phat – the company is wasting no time in putting out the new lingerie line, called Baby Phat Lingerie.

The bra and  Wholesale Corsets collection is designed and inspired by Simmons’ wife, Kimora Lee.

It will hit stores in July.

“Everything in that collection is inspired by something in my closet,” the statuesque model – and mother of a five-month-old girl – said as she pointed to the rack of sleepwear-turned-streetwear during a photo shoot for the line’s ad campaign.

“The vibe is new and fresh. It’s super, super sexy. But it’s also cute and comfortable,” said Lee, who is creative director of the line of about 50 pieces.

The first collection, targeting the 18-to-34 year old woman, is filled with slipdresses, camisoles, bras and panties – in both cotton and silk – and ranges in price from $6 for a pair of underwear to $350 for a dress.

Lee and the president of Phat Fashions, Marcie Corbett, project the new line will ring up $5 million to $10 million in its first year.

“We’ve gotten an incredible response from our women’s line,” said Corbett of the Baby Phat line, which hit stores this spring. “There’s no reason to believe this won’t be as strong.”

The line will be launched in Phat Farm stores, as well as at specialty and department stores across the country.

Phat Farm founder Russell Simmons said the new line “will serve as the image of the company overall.

“It represents what we are,” he said, admitting it might not be the top selling division of the Phat Farm empire. “But it could be huge in terms of visibility.”
